Bella: Mommy.
Me: Yes.
Bella: What are you doing?
Me: Halloween Decorations.
Bella: Oh. Jack O’Lanterns?
Me: Yes.
Bella: Are they going to light up? In different colors? And twinkle? And sparkle?
Me: No.
Bella: No? Well then what are they going to do?
Me: Nothing.
Bella: Oh. (Silence) I guess that’s good enough.

YOU ARE DARN TOOT’IN’ THAT’S GOOD ENOUGH.
That’s brilliant, actually.
A lamp that lights up with a light bulb.
But wait!
Oh CRAP!
There is a black widow spider inside!!!!
Yeah. THAT. IS. FRIGHTENING.
Forget the twinkle, dinkle, sparkle jazz. This is scary town over here. . .
Ain’t nobody got time for that.
But just in case, you are of the same persuasion as my 10-year-old. . .
a little extra orange glitter on your pumpkin can’t hurt.
Jack O’ Lantern Lamp and Crawling Spider Lampshade
If you have 15 minutes, and old lamp and shade, plus $3 then you can make this craft.
What You Need:
Lamp base
White/Cream Lampshade
3 styrofoam pumpkins (large enough to cut holes into and slide over lamp base) – – – -I purchased these at Dollar Tree and have seen similar at Target
Scissors or Box cutter/exacto knife
Black Spider die cut (or cut one yourself from black construction paper)
Clear packing tape
1. Gather materials.
2. Place your lamp base on top of your pumpkin and draw a line around it to measure the size of the hole you will cut.
