She has chosen. . . .the store bought costume.
I’m beside myself with worry and guilt?
Will it fit? Will it be cheaply made? Have I let her down in the past by not making her costumes to her specifications?
But alas, it was not meant to be. She told me she has to travel this road on her own. That a mother’s craftiness won’t be needed this year. She wiped my tears, patted me on the back, and told me I could put some make-up on her face if I wanted.
So. . . .I pulled myself up by my bootstraps. . .scraped my self respect off the floor and stuffed her into her store bought, too small My Little Pony Costume. And then I licked my wounds and put some make-up on her face.
My Little Pony Make-Up Step By Step Tutorial
What you need:
Foundation
Eyeshadow, Pink and Blue
Liquid Liner, Black
Moisturizing Lotion
Blush brush
Face Glitter
Dark Pink Lip Liner
Light pink lipstick and gloss (or Vaseline)
What To Do:
1.) Get your cute unappreciative kid.
2.) Cover their wickedly smiling face with foundation. It makes them think you’re doing something fantastic. Amazing, even.
3.) Apply eyeshadow. The lower part of the lid should pink. The upper brow should be blue. It’s okay if it’s a little messy. They won’t care.
4.) Draw on fake eyelashes with the liquid liner. If they seem long enough to you, then they are not. Draw them longer. Try and work around their crazy curly beautiful eyelashes that you were not fortunate enough to receive in the gene pool.
Eyelashes not long enough. I came back and made them longer. See final photo. |
5.) Dab a little lotion onto their cheekbone. This will help the glitter adhere. Using a blush brush, apply the glitter to their cheekbones. Uniformity is not important, as Flying Pegasus My Little Pony’s use their glitter to save lives not win beauty pageants.
6.) Line her lips with lip liner. Fill in with lipstick. Apply a final coat of gloss or Vaseline to add shine! Watch as she gallops off into the sunset.
