My best Manicure Tips that will have your beauties looking good all week long.

I feel a little guilty.

Everytime I go anywhere, EVERYBODY feels so sorry for me.

Oh Poor You! That knee of yours must hurt so bad!

Meniscus? ACL Tear? Geez! Those are the worst!

And I say,” Well. . .ummm, it’s really not that bad. Honestly. I doesn’t hurt. And aside from the fact that I have to lug these horrid crutches around with me everywhere I go, I’m really in hog heaven.”

And then they give a nervous little laugh. Shyly avert their gaze. Not knowing what to say.

But I’m so serious. I don’t have to do anything but rest. Nobody is relying on me for anything. Anytime my kids ask me to do something, I just say “Nope, I can’t” And point to my knee and they walk away confused. My husband is so worried and I’m going to fall down and re-injure myself that he does everything I ever wanted him to do willingly.

So basically I get to sit around and just chill. I’m watching all the tv shows that I’ve missed the last 14 years. I’m catching up on good books, and pinterest pins. But the creme de la creme, is I finally have time to paint my nails and let them dry. Not only that, I think I may have perfected the art of the DIY cheaper chicken manicure. A manicure that has lasted me 7 FULL DAYS.

GET OUT!

I KNOW.

I feel like those people who go through great trials and tribulations and come out on the other end of it with some monstrously wonderful invention. Only I didn’t invent anything, and I haven’t gone through anything hard.  Except I did have to take an extra dose of Benadryl last week because my seasonal allergies are flaring up.

Anyway.

If you should have 15 minutes on your hands. And you want your nails to look killer for 7 wonderful days. Here’s what I did. . . .

What you Need:

1 bottle of Gelous (with the green top) purchased at Sally’s Beauty Supply.  It adds a protective coating to your nail and I think it helps the polish to adhere and stay on longer. (My bottle looks a bit jacked up.  I’m not pointing any fingers, but ummm…….14 year old daughter who always steals my stuff and sloppily closes nail polish tops, if at all, may have had something to do with it.)

1 bottle of Good, but inexpensive polish. I like Sinful Colors. Super rich pigments, and Tourmaline, Formaldehyde, and Dbp free. Tons of colors, dries quick and only $1.99. They are owned by Revlon, so you know this is no cheap, low quality color. Find it at Walgreens, Target, Walmart, or your other favorite store.

1 bottle of Top Coat – Sally Hansen. She has many to choose from but this is just the basic quick dry top coat. I bought it at Kroger for $3.50. I like it better than Seche Vite, which I hear is what all the fancy nail bloggers like. Seche Vite got thick too quick and didn’t do as well for me.

WHAT TO DO:

1. So from here on it’s pretty simple.  Apply a thin coat of Gelous to your clean finger nails.  Allow to dry for 1 minute.

2.After 1 minute of drying time, apply a thin coat of nail color.  Allow to dry for 3 minutes.

3. Apply another (final) coat of Gelous, and wait 1 minute more.

4. Apply a second coat of nail color. Wait for 3 minutes.

5. Finish with Sally Hansen’s Top Coat. Wait a few minutes and then off you go! For seven days. Without a chip! With gorgeous nails. Loving life.

I will say, if you wash dishes on the constant, it may or may not last as long for you. I guess it just depends on how hard you scrub.

But in any case, this is a great way to do your nails and have them last.

I hope you try it!
