Blueberry Dream Smoothie

Everyday when I put Phoebe (5) on the bus, she gives me a kiss and whispers, “I don’t want to got to school.”

It quite literally breaks my heart for 3 seconds, and then she hops up the bus stairs and waves good-bye to me like she’s going to the circus.

I don’t get it. But I do hate it.

I think maybe she’s just a drama queen like a few of her sisters.

Today I said, “Hey. . .let’s say. . .I CAN’T WAIT TILL I SEE YOU WHEN I GET HOME!. . . .and give each other kisses, okay?”

And she says, “okay.”

And then the bus comes, and on cue she says, “I can’t wait till I see you when I get home! And, I don’t want to go to school.”

“Phoebe,” I lean over and kiss her on the cheek, “we were only going to say the first part, not the last part, because we want to be optimistic! and think happy thoughts!”

Okay. She frowns. And gets on the bus mumbling under her breadth.

Oh. What am I complaining about?

Who cares if she doesn’t want to go to school. I feel loved. I feel needed. Really that is the most important thing.

And now that I think about it. . . .she’s been leaving signs up all over the house and saying , “I love you Mommy. Please remember that when I go to school.”

She wrote, “I love you.” And notice the bus, the stop sign and the super skinny hot model mom. Second figure from the left. That’s me. Check out my abs. ROCK HARD.

Maybe this is all one big charade to make me feel better about myself.

Oh my goodness. I am raising that kid right.

I think I’m on to something.

Everyday, when she gets off the bus, she runs full speed tripping all over her size 11 shoes and tackles my knees like she’s a linebacker.

“Mommy! I love you! I missed you! What’s for snack???”

Compliment. Compliment. Wham! Favor.

And everyday, I say, I don’t know.

And she says “how about a smoothie?”

And sometimes I say, “sure.”

and other times, I’m like, “Not today. We are in too much of or a hurry.”

Or there is the ever popular,

“I’m NOT DOING ANYTHING IN THAT KITCHEN UNTIL YOU AND YOUR SISTERS CLEAN UP YOUR MESS! I AM NOT YOUR MAID!”

And then we walk home holding hands, and I walk straight to the blender and make her a smoothie.

Uh. That kid.

I’ve totally under estimated her.

Blueberry Dream Smoothie

Phoebe hates vegetables. HATES THEM. So, I need to be thanking my lucky stars she like smoothies. This is one of her favorites, and often I will throw in spinach without her knowing. It will change the color up to a darker, richer blue, but she loves it all the same.

2 bananas
2 cups frozen blueberries
4 tb powdered non fat milk
5 tb maple syrup
3 cups ice
