Yesterday, someone asked Warwick if he reads my blog.
He said, “Yeah. Mostly to proof read it.”
When I first started my blog,
The moment my fingers typed PUBLISH!
I’d call him and ask, “Is it okay? Does it sound stupid or gross? Do you think people will think I’m weird?”
“Ummm. No.” He’d say, not elaborating one. bit.
BUT Now.
I think. . . he thinks, he’s my manager.
Yesterday, he told me, “Hold up Kathy Lee.”
As in my blog is now Kathy Lee – The Home Guru
“Don’t talk about your kids so much. I don’t think people care what our kids are doing. Get back to the food.”
Whatever.
Whatever.
Whatever.
Uh. He’s such a know it all.
So today, I’ve decided not tell you that Phoebe had her first EVER soccer practice yesterday.
Or that Shelbi convinced me to get my nails painted today, for a conference I’m going to later this week. . and that the lady who did them used a shade of pink that was waaaaaaayyyyy too dark, so she had to start over. And then we decided just to do french manicure. . .but she did the white tips too thick, and I really wanted to tell her. . .but I was worried she’d curse me out. . .so I just smiled, thanked her and paid my money. And now I’m going to have run around hiding my middle and pointer fingers on my right hand because they look like upside down smiley faces on a pigs foot.
Nope.
Not gonna tell you that.
That’s totes off topic.
I’m just gonna stick to Pears. Pure and Simple.
Pears.
Not nails. Or Phoebe.
OR know it all husbands.
Just Pears.

Finally.
I’m on the last of my pears.
I wasn’t sure what to do with the end pickings because we’ve been eating pears for like a month straight.
But luckily one of my friends on Facebook told me she loved making Pear HONEY. And I was like,
“What is this marvelous thing of which you speak?”
And then because I’m too impatient, I googled it.
It sounded like heaven.
So I gave it a shot.
Yesterday was a little busy with me running in and out of the house, so I decided to throw all the ingredients into the slow cooker. It came out pretty good, if I do say so myself.
FYI: In my version I cut the sugar down by about half, the result was still QUITE sweet, but lovely.
Much like honey.
Yum.
PEAR HONEY!!!
Ingredients:
10 cups pears, peeled, cored and chopped
1 cup unsweetened pineapple juice (my girlfriend said she uses lemon juice instead:)
6 cups sugar
Directions:
1. Place chopped pears into a large slow cooker. Add pineapple juice and sugar and stir. Set the slow cooker on high. Cover. Allow to cook for 6 hours. Stirring occasionally.
2. When the color reaches a dark honey color and the syrup starts to thicken, remove pears. Place into a blender (or you could use an immersion blender) with about one cup of syrup. Blend until the consistency of baby food.
3.Pour blended mixture back into the slow cooker and stir. If you would like the mixture to be thicker, remove the lid, keeping the slow cooker on high, and continue to cook until thick.
4. Ladle hot mixture into jars, let cool. Refrigerate. {The mixture can also be canned traditionally by using hot sterile jars and boiling water. .but I’m not sure it would be worth the trouble in my case, I don’t think these bad boys are going to last very long:)}

SEE MY NAILS???? |

That’s not the nail that looks like the smiling pigs foot. |
That looks delicious, I make apple butter that is kind of like this. Got to get some pears, maybe try maple syrup for some of the sugar??
(and your nails don’t look like smiling faces on pig’s feet LOL)
Sounds divine! You’ll have to tell me how it turns out! (Thanks for not thinking my hands look like pigs feet:)))))
