Around this time of year, there is A LOT of argueing in my house.

Children wanting to be silly little princesses or American dolls and me screaming at the top of my lungs that scary costumes are all the rage.

Trying to shatter their ever hopeful dreams of being pretty.

“You are pretty ALL THE TIME. Why on earth do you want to be pretty on Halloween?”  I plead.

They just look at me and shake their heads.

As in usual fashion, this year, Soledad decided she wanted to be an American Girl Doll.  Fancy Dress. Hair in curls. Pretty. Pretty. Pretty. Ick.

Okay, I say.

I buy a dress. BIG. FANCY. With lots of Gold and Lace and detail.  “That’s pretty. . . .” she mumbles, ” but. . . .it’s  not an American Girl dress.”

She is COMPLETELY disappointed in my American Girl Costume Making skills. Or ummm. . .my BUYING skills.  So she just nixed the whole costume all together and decided to go Greaser.

Only, apparently they don’t call it Greaser anymore.

It’s Biker. Biker Babe. From the 60’s.

In particular the Disney Movie that came out this Summer, TEEN BEACH MOVIE, biker babe.

So this is what I did.

And this is what she wore.

And.  . . .

she told me . . . . .I have OFFICIALLY redeemed myself.

DIY: TEEN BEACH MOVIE BIKER BABE

WHAT You Need:

A really cute kid.

Long Black One- Piece Leotard

Chunky Belt

Black Flats

White/Red Bandana

Red Flower or Bow for Hair.

Hair tie

Red Lipstick and Lip Liner

Pearly Eyeshadow (we used a irridescent beige)

Black Liquid Eye Liner

 

WHAT TO DO:

1. At 7:30 pm after 3 hours of complaining about not going to Trunk or Treat, tell your child you will fix her Halloween Costume.  She will still be mad at you for not bringing her to Trunk or Treat, but she will stop crying and come into your bedroom ELATED.

2. Grab the Leotard and stuff her into it.

3. Tie the bandana around their neck. Loosely:)

 

4.  When she asks you 50 million times if you know how to do a beehive, reassure her that you know how to do hair. She will try to act like you don’t brush her hair everyday and that you have no clue how to wield a brush, but fear not and grit your teeth.

Part her hair down the center to the crown of her head. Make another part perpendicular to that one, making a similiar part that runs from ear to ear.

 

Take a small section from each side and tie at the nape of the neck.

 

Tease about 1/3 of her hair at the crown, brushing the top layer to make it smooth,twist slightly and place into a barrette. Hair Spray the mess out of it.

 

 

 

 

MAKE UP:

It’s pretty basic. I’ll just show you the pics.

ADD HOOP EARRINGS.

AND A BIG RED FLOWER OR BOW. . .

Then. . .

We tried different jackets.

My fave was the Pink Ladies jacket (it’s a rain poncho:) All this stuff we had around the house or bought at the thrift:)

The blingy option. No surprise this was her fave.

Classic Black Velvet option.

So cute Pink Lady Option!!! Why does nobody listen to me?  This is clearly the best!

Short sleeve, humid air, hot weather, we live in Houston option.

I’m sure a few things will change before next Thursday. I think she wants bigger hoop earrings.  We shall see. . . . .
